STEAM Education is an approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.
These programs aim to teach students innovation, to think critically and use engineering or technology in imaginative designs or creative approaches to real-world problems while building on students' mathematics and science base. STEAM programs add art to STEM curriculum by drawing on design principles and encouraging creative solutions.
FIRST Robotics - Our robotics club has competed in FIRST World Championships and provides experiences for any student with a variety of interests. As a member of the FIRST robotics team, participants will engage in a variety of tasks including engineering and design, computer programming, marketing and budgeting, workplace safety and much more.
Science Olympiad - Science Olympiad introduces students to many different areas of STEM through projects, labs and tests in a fun and competitive atmosphere. Each year, 15 students prepare for 23 different events related to science, technology and engineering. Events can range from Anatomy and Astronomy tests, to chemistry and physics labs, to bridge and gravity vehicle construction. Students compete against several other schools in the region in each of the events. Students who perform well enough are invited to the state competition.
